Asiana Airlines is one of the two major airlines in South Korea and a member of the Star Alliance network. The Asiana Visa Signature Credit Card provides an opportunity to earn miles on not only Asiana Airlines purchases, but gas and groceries as well. The card also includes a number of extra perks to its card members. Even if you aren't a frequent flyer with Asiana, if you just want to be able to redeem points for Asiana flights, this card is worth considering.

Why We Like This Card

  • Bonuses for gas and grocery store purchases
  • 10,000 bonus miles awarded annually
  • $100 annual rebate on Asiana ticket purchases

How This Card Works

Earn 3 miles for each dollar spent on purchases with Asiana Airlines, 2 miles for each dollar spent at gas stations and grocery stores, and 1 mile for each dollar spent everywhere else. Miles can be redeemed for Asiana flights and upgrades. Miles expire 10 to 12 years from the date they are posted to your account, depending on your membership status. There is also a cap of 200,000 miles per calendar year. There is a $99 annual fee and no foreign transaction fees.

Bonus offer: Get 30,000 bonus miles after making $3,000 in purchases within 90 days of account opening.

Other Benefits

Lounge access. You receive two lounge invitations every year for Asiana Airlines lounges in the U.S. The invitation is only valid for the cardholder.

10,000 annual certificate. Each year, get a 10,000 bonus miles Certificate to be redeemable for an Asiana international or Korea domestic ticket, seat class upgrade or excess bag allowance.

$100 rebate. Get an automatic $100 annual rebate on Asiana ticket purchases.

Pros

Earn miles for everyday purchases. Earn double miles on gas and groceries. Typically, airline rewards cards focus on travel benefits which results in carrying a separate card if you want to earn rewards for your day to day purchases. (See also: Best Credit Cards to Use at Supermarkets)

Multiple anniversary bonuses. If you travel with Asiana Airlines, you can benefit quite a bit from the anniversary bonuses you receive every year: the lounge certificates, the 10,000 bonus miles, and $100 off an Asiana Airlines flight. The bonuses are worth hundreds and you receive them every year on your card anniversary.

Who This Card Is Best For

This card is best for those who love to travel on Asiana Airlines and can benefit from the many anniversary bonuses the card provides, especially if you spend a lot on groceries and gas to boost your points accumulation. Because of the annual cap on miles, however, the card is best if you don't spend, as an example, over $67,000 per year in purchases with Asiana Airlines.
