Ask The Readers: Do You Have Multiple Sources of Income?

Editor's Note: Congratulations to Tamara, Amy, and Maureen Bannon Chouinard for winning this week's contest!

Most people have one job that they rely on to cover their expenses. The idea of working more than one job or having more than one source of income might not cross their minds. However, there are people who have multiple sources of income to fall back on should they need some extra money or their primary source of income falls through.

Do you have multiple sources of income?  Why or why not? If you have multiple sources of income, what are all your sources of income?

Tell us if you have multiple sources of income and we'll enter you in a drawing to win a $20 Amazon Gift Card!

Win 1 of 3 $20 Amazon Gift Cards

Yes, in addition to regular salary, I occasionally do surveys/focus groups to make a little extra money. Every few years I also have a garage sale to get rid of clutter and score some extra cash too.

I have two sources of income. My primary desk job and direct sells from home. I'm working two jobs because the salary of the first is just enough to live on, but not enough to dream with.

I have two sources of income: The first is my day job teaching at a cram school in Seoul, South Korea, and the second is my love child, the Royston Writing Institute. It's my online writing school geard towards high school students preparing to send their college essays. I can't wait until RWI is my *only* source of income.

We have multiple streams - my husband and I both work full time jobs. He also does some contract pest control work on the side - I do the paperwork for that. I also sell Avon - mostly to people at my full time job and neighbors.

I work a second job, 12 hours per week. I use the cash for fun stuff or to buy things we need, depending upon how tight the budget is that week.

Yes, my husband works at a regular job, we sell things at yard sales, on Craigslist, and on Ebay. I will be setting up an Etsy account here soon, to sell the homemade beaded jewelry and other crafts that I make--I also have done "jewelry parties", where I teach others how to make bracelets. I also dog sit for friends, who pay me whatever they think is fair.

Grad school offers many opportunities to make extra money and find free events to attend, if time allows. To bring in extra money, I occasionally tutor, proofread, do online surveys, and sell back books.

I also save money by using coupons, bartering, and entering some local contests for events.

I have liked you on Facebook for a long time now. Thanks!

I work two jobs -- and it's been a real lifesaver. When I started disliking my former full-time job, I had a lot of firm leverage to say "This is not what I signed on for. I am moving on." My part-time job was quick to bring me on for more hours, and my full-time job ended up asking me to still stay on for part-time work on my own terms. It is more "work," but I feel like I have more freedom and control.

Sources of income:
(1) Military retirement
(2) VA benefit
(3) Federal job
(4) Licensed real estate agent (not using; no current income)
(5) Notary public (using but not charging anyone; can use for income if needed)

Ditto above for husband (minus the notary public)

When we retire we each hope to add the following incomes:

(1) Federal job pensions
(2) Social security payments
(3) Retirement investments

Yes. In addition to my full-time job, I do freelance illustrating, take clothes to a consignment shop, and sell things on eBay. We have to do all we can while my husband's not working.

Due to lack of an annual raise and the elimination of a 401K match I have added two additional sources of income:

1. I created a website store selling an exclusive line of clothing.
2. I became an Advisor for the direct sales company Mancaveworldwide.com

Great idea for a giveaway! My primary source of income comes from IT consulting, but I also enjoy a bit of passive income from various websites I maintain.

We don't have multiple incomes in our household. But we're setting up a foundation to get multiple incomes in the future.

Yes but most are not sustainable (ie: selling cd collection on ebay). Researching other passive and active sources to replace the cubicle check that is our primary source.
