I've shopped on the site in the past. Most things have always been a dollar. Later they added in some things that cost more.

Yes, ELF products are always $1. But you also get what you pay for, cheap cosmetics. I don't like any of their products except for their false eyelashes and stuff like brushes, sponges, etc. Their makeup is cheap and very low quality, IMO.

Their products are sold online and in some Target stores too. FYI: everything I've ordered has been made in China- if that's a concern for you.

Bummer, wish I would have read the comments before purchasing. BUT the Coupon code DID work, so that made everything .50cent So well worth it still :) Hopefully the quality is ok..

I'll jump on the "always a dollar" bandwagon. I've ordered from there a handful of times. I hate the lip gloss, but like the eyeshadow. In general, I find most of the products aren't high quality. But if I'm looking to experiment with a new color - you can't beat the price. Also, they definitely are not sold at Nordstrom's. I've never noticed them at target, but I'll have to look next time I'm there.

I was excited to see this tip on Wise Bread, but the cosmetics themselves have garnered all kinds of negative attention from reviewers (good sampling here: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf11681198.tip.html). I wish this original post would've included some of the drawbacks before such a hearty recommendation; I imagine at least a handful of readers will go through with ordering before realizing the drawbacks (or maybe just realities) of the promotion.

I think maybe the article should be edited to take off the Nordstrom's association since Nordstrom's officially denies that they are associated with ELF. The coupon code still works so that's cool. Maybe it should say 50 cent makeup at ELF with coupon or something.

Some things like eyelash curlers get rave reviews while others mascara don't do so hot. So it seems some things are a deal for $1 and others aren't.

Let me first apologize to Myscha for not giving her 100% accurate information. This is my mistake, not hers, period.
I have read enough of Myscha's work to know that she gives tremendous information and is a well researched journalist.

Second, I want to apologize to all the Wisebread readers for the inaccurate information on the ELF products. Normally, I research everything to the best of my ability to bring as accurate info to the readers as possible.I relied on a normally good source and Im sure they did the same.

In sheer excitement of getting a "good deal" to others, I goofed.My fault and again, I apologize.

Some mistakes will happen and although not good, we can learn something from them and improve our work/ ourselves in the future. Message learned today: If it sounds like an incredibly super duper deal, validate it.

I am in this with other ELF purchasers,as my wife took my news to the tune of a 3 digit order. Now the good news.......

Thanks to guest #20 for a great feedback post from Makeupalley.com.I wanted to find out if these products were as good as touted.

Bottom line : Will people RE ORDER the product? That, above all else tells us if the products are worth a lick.

My grading is very common sense and simplistic. Any product with a 70% or higher RE PURCHASE is a passing grade. I only took products with at least 5 reviews, for a fair sampling of the product.

48 out of 84 products( 57%) got a 70% or HIGHER "Would Buy Again" rating. And many of those products were up in the high 80-low 90% chance of REBUY.

That tells me that the ELF line has some pretty decent products.

Finally let us not forget that the products were still only $1(some cases 50 cents). So, for that price, still not a bad deal. As someone else commented, its not as exciting knowing that is wasnt from Nordstrom. Nontheless if people rebuy it, then it is a good deal.Lets hope overall,most get a decent deal for their buck.

Hey, the coupon made it 50 cents a piece. Even if I don't like it, I will give it to my teen/tween daughters and they will love it.

If you have a KMart or Target, try buying E.L.F. products from there. E.L.F. has notoriously poor shipping practices (I've seen low reviews on many sites about their purchase policies).

I've used some of their stuff. Some of it's very, very good (eyelash curler, brushes, eyeshadow), but most of it is awful. Still, I wouldn't purchase from their online store--the company lies quite a bit about the transactions, not to mention these phony Nordstroms and Bloomingdale claims, plus I've even read a few beauty blogs where the blogger criticised the quality of the product, and the commenters raved about E.L.F. under different names, only to have the blogger discover that the comments were coming from the same people!

Again, if you don't mind a little risk, I'd rather have people buying from big box stores than ordering online.
