Good article and you covered a lot of important points. If I could add one thing to the training topic it would be that you are NEVER done training a dog. Training is a life time commitment and responsibility that starts the minute you bring a dog home.
Also, I think people buy little dogs because they think that they won't need as much training and effort because if their little dog bites someone at least it won't seriously hurt or potentially kill someone. I can't count how many times I have been walking my two American Bulldogs (they each weight about 100 lbs each) and we are charged by a snarling and overly aggressive poodle or other small dog and the owners of these dogs just sit there and chuckle and think it is cute. However, if my dogs were to even growl at these little monsters - all of a sudden I would be labeled as the lady with the dangerous dogs.
I cringe when people remark "what good dogs you have" they didn't come to me that way, it has taken hundreds of hours of training and discipline to make them good dogs.
