Magazine Swap and other fun things

Submitted by Shan-Oh on February 27, 2008 - 13:44.

At our office we do some interesting 'swapping' that saves resources:

We have one central break room for six floors of employees. One table is dedicated to holding magazines that we 'swap'. Every month I cut my name and address of my subscriptions to Money, Kiplinger, and Real Simple and swap them out for a cooking magazine, and one on interior design that someone else has brought in.

We recently moved and I did not have to buy a single houseplant. I just walked around looking in cubes til I saw a cool plant I'd like to have and asked the owner for a cutting. Some water and rooting solution, and a few weeks later, voila! A starter houseplant.

A few of us ladies get together during lunch to stretch to alleviate the strain from sitting all day. I showed a few moves from my yoga class, another showed us some tai chi moves from her class, and a third gal showed us some strengthening exercises from her physical therapist. We gained new exercise strategies without paying anything more :)

Good post, I may bring in my cell and ipod for charging during the day!
