1. members are hand picked by the 3 founders (and quality counts a lot)

2. they only accept new members a couple of times a year

Tomorrow, 8/6/08, they are accepting applications for new members for 24 hours only. The next date is 11/5/08. (announcement on their blog)

Does this mean the application form isn't visible until midnight? I don't see it right now.

The application process was easy enough. I waited (im)patiently for the 24 hour window, and headed over to their website. I just had to fill out some fairly easy questions on their form, submit, and wait.

I can see the link so I'll assume it was made live once it was really open to prevent early and/or late applications.

I'd think about it if I had the time to put towards my blogs continually and to get around to making them custom themes.

I applied! I had never heard of them but their member blogs look really interesting. I just checked their blog for an update and it said that there were ten applicants, double from the last opening. The announcements will be made at a later date.
