Reputation: | Akismet is a life-saver for Wise Bread's blog comments. It allowed us to keep allowing anonymous comments, while keeping our heads above the torrent of spam. Having said that, a single barrier is not enough to keep spammers away. On WB, we have at least 3 barriers: 1. captcha -- the image or math verification thing 2. Akismet 3. human editors to pick off the few spams that sneak through I would guesstimate that Akismet takes care of 80-90% of spam, the captcha prevents about 10% and the humans catch the last few sneaky ones. I wouldn't deploy a new blog without Akismet installed. That's just asking for thousands and thousands of comments of the unwanted kind. |

Reputation: | It doesn't really do much for me and my blogs so I don't enable it. I can do all the things it's supposed to do. Which brings me to my next point, sometimes it doesn't do what it should do. |

Reputation: | I always enable it. I don't think I can handle 20-30 spam comments I receive everyday. Although the plugin isn't perfect, it still has its uses. One thing I am greatful for is Akismet 'delete all' function. |

Reputation: | I love Akismet. It's currently my only spam protection, other than having my blog set to admin approve new commenters. |

| Senior Member | I use Akismet on my blog. It took a bit of doing as I also have One Click Install which made it a bit weird to install some things, but it is now catching what I was having to moderate manually. I could still get some useless spammy comments, but since I don't get much traffic its not a problem right now. For larger blogs I have heard it is a life saver.

| Senior Member | I just enabled it on my new blog, it's only been up for a few days and already yesterday I had three spam comments sorted by Akismet. Great stuff, I'm really pleased I have it. |
