Default The Terrible Economics of Dual Income

With so many dual income families barely making ends meet an article like this one is important to consider. Instinctively I think a number of couples already know this but when you are in a high cost state like California or New York and include FICA taxes, the tax on marginal income is over 50% for many couples. The thing is that many couples don't do the calculation and they should because life might be better without one of them working, especially if they have kids.

Default The Witch of Wall Street - Henrietta "Hetty" Green

This week we have covered "The Witch of Wall Street - Henrietta "Hetty" Green."

Over the last couple of years folks have become increasingly cautious about spending. For good reasons that is - losing employment, sinking portfolios, negative house equities and the list goes on. Frugality is in - bigtime! Suddenly, we, Americans have become frugal . We have started taking extreme measures to reduce our regular expenses.

But do you know who was the first Queen of Frugality?

Her name is Henrietta "Hetty" Green. She lived from 1834-1916. Arguably she is an all time Frugality Champion .......

Check out the rest of the story here ....

Default Article on lotteries?

I wrote a short article on lotteries I'd like to submit - you can read it here: http://mbabriefs.com/2009/11/lotteri...e-bad-at-math/

I talk about how astronomical the odds of winning are and compare the statistics to other unlikely things, like being struck by lightning.

Thanks,

- David
