Wide Open Wallet: 50 Awesome Open Source Financial Tools

I was emailed directly by the blogger(s), but I'm not getting anything from endorsing this article. I think it's a great compendium, and it fits well into two of Wise Bread's themes (personal finance and lifehacks).

Default Stories@deadgadgets.com wants your dead gadget stories!

http://www.fakeplasticfish.com/2008/...your-dead.html

Barbara Kyle, the National Coordinator of the Electronics TakeBack
Coalition, is collecting stories from folks who have been unable to upgrade
or repair their dead electronic gadgets (computers, TVs, etc.) due to the
policies of the manufacturers which require replacement rather than
repair.

So far, the coalition has been focusing on getting companies to take back
and responsibly recycle dead electronics. But they'd like to expand their
campaign to focus on building electronics to last longer and be upgradable
and repairable rather than simply recyclable!
This would save us money AND
the environment!

Please read my full post on the subject. Your stories can help to put pressure on companies to build more responsibly:

Thanks,
Beth Terry

May I suggest an article my sister wrote:

The Life Stages of the Dish Sponge

This is a tongue-in-cheek combination of a biology textbook parody and frugal living tip for extending the use of your dish sponge beyond the kitchen sink.

Here's the latest edition.

Andy, thanks for pointing me to Saving to Invest! There's a lot of great content there. I included a different article from that blog because I wanted to include a newer article. I hope you don't mind.

(It's my fault for not doing these roundups more frequently... It's going to change I tell you!)
