| Member | My site was down for almost a week a few months ago. I was hours away from losing about $500 per month in advertising. The site came back up in the nick of time. Moral: Have backup hosting available. If you have your domain tied to your hosting package, it's more difficult to extract it and start up again if the hosting goes south.

Reputation: | The worst thing that's happened to me on my blog was this comment: "Shoddy article, I don’t know anything more than I did before. First time to your blog, I don’t know what’s worse, your unfortunate features (ie-you are ugly) or your really ugly blog design. And you have a boyfriend? I’d never date you." It pissed me off because I spent a lot of time working on that particular article as well as my blog design. The whole "ugly" and "boyfriend" thing didn't even bother me that much, because my boyfriend loves my "unfortunate features" - and I wouldn't want a date with the **** who left the comment. I knew the smart thing was to not respond, and I didn't. But even though I know people really abuse the Internet's anonymity and that's not something I can avoid or should worry about, it still hurt! |

Reputation: | Ive had a few mishaps related to my frequent theme changes, lol but the WORST had to be while tweaking my new theme late one Sunday night I had a FLOOD of traffic and I got a few emails saying that my site wasnt showing up correctly at all. IE or Mozilla. It was just jumbled, garbled and looked broken. Of course I panicked because Fox decides to show the segment they interviewed me for on that Sunday night for the third time. I thought they were done because they'd played it 2 times already during the week. It also didn't help that I forgot to tell my family members who are local to DC and they were calling me at 12am saying that they saw me on TV but my site was broken. Luckily I was able to get things fixed pretty quickly and invested in a site that's IE and Mozilla compliant. I. was. pissed. LOL!
