Reputation: | Obviously none of us would be blogging at all if we weren't writing about something we were passionate about... right? But who here is in it to make a few bucks? I'll be the first to admit it. I've been keeping a food-related blog on my Livejournal for several years now, so I know I can do it already. A few months ago I had the brilliant idea that having my own domain name with my own setup would mean that if I wanted to monetize, I could. (Shameless plug: go check out Living and Eating in Portland, Maine / Blueberries and Lobster.) I know that most blogs have to be around for a while before they start pulling in the traffic and money, so I'm trying to be patient and just focus on creating good content. Any success stories out there? |

Reputation: | I have three blogs, one of them is on hold for right now, but the other two make money. I didn't get in it for the money, it just kind of happened. They don't make a lot...yet. |

Reputation: | I have two blogs, both started recently. My Uni art/photography blog is just for fun, I enjoy seeing my work online and seeing as I've developed a fair body of work now it's good to see it, it encourages me to keep creating. I have a frugal blog I've just started. Frugally speaking I went for a blog because I want to see if it takes off before I commit to a domain name and hosting costs. Designing the site will be easy, I'm a developer too and I can get the hosting and registration costs at a very reasonable price because of business associates. However being a student and a part time mum I need to be as frugal as possible at this stage. I hope in the long run it will create some kind of subsidiary income (at which point I'll do a redirect from the blog to the site) but for now it's just plain fun doing it.

| Senior Member | I started my blog last August when we got the puppy. I started working on monetizing it and getting it traffic and page ranking in about October. Its been slow but I have made $20 from payperpost for my first post with them. I'd like to make enough to buy a domain and hosting plan somewhere (even though I adore my host now). I also use Commission Junction - A Global Leader in Affiliate Marketing, Online Advertising and Search Engine Marketing for affiliate marketing. They might have something there you could use to match the Maine theme. btw:cute idea. I'm in maine and I find that too cute.

Reputation: | I have 2 blogs: BasenjiMom, and www.BasenjiMom.com I make money on both of them via many of the paid to post sites...it's a nice way to make passive income, and I feel it keeps me a better writer by mixing it up a little. |

Reputation: | I just started my blog a month ago. I don't plan to monetize for a few months, maybe even a year. Mostly I'm writing because the subject really interests me; earning money wasn't at the top of my mind. If I end up making money from it, that'd be icing on the cake. |

Reputation: | Thanks for the tip! The theme, as you can see, is a little bland, so I'm looking for ways to spice it up. Where in Maine are you?

Reputation: | So true! Luckily, when I'm in a creative streak, I can whip out a few posts at once and schedule them to run on different days. This means I don't have to force myself to write every day, but I can still have new content. Thank goodness for technology.

Reputation: | Hello, I am new to this. How do you make money from a blog. Do websites pay you to post to them? I am always interested in finding ways to make money. bluecobia |
