Default Don't Join BloggerTalk.net Forums

I joined the bloggertalk.net (not to confuse it with bloggertalk.com) forum 3 months ago with the intention of participating in it when I had some free time, hoping to learn and share some things I've learned about blogging, and today I received a rather rude email from one of the administrators complaining about people joining and not participating.

I wrote back and explained that I did intend to participate but have been busy with my 3 businesses and other responsibilities at home, and unfortunately chatting on forums is currently a little far back on my list of things to do. She wrote back another sarcastic email and sent me an account deactivation email.

OK, I understand my account is taking up space in their database, but I have joined many other forums in the past that I post in once or twice a year and never met such rudeness or deactivation of my accounts.

Anyways, just thought I'd share (or maybe it's more like venting - sorry).

Some people really overvalue the amount of space one single account takes up on a forum. Most forums only prune membership once a year if that. Even bigger forums don't prune more often choosing to use ad revenue to get more adequate server space. I'll be sure to stay away from that one for sure.

I've had that same problem but on an unrelated forum. It was for TV shows, I think fanforum.com maybe? Anyway I posted in a couple forums on there and the admin deleted my posts and then pointed me to a post that was similar and posted over 3 years ago (and the last post was over 3 years ago) and said I shouldn't clog the board with duplicate posts. So what I'm supposed to go back 3 years and make sure there's not a post that's the same? (and it wasn't even the same!) Anyway they lost me forever. Forums are a place to talk that's the whole point of them.

I apologize if my original email came across as rude. You will see (Blogger Talk members offer their opinion) that our forum members did not take it as my being rude. I was simply trying to reach out to my members to remind them to swing by and participate in our forums.

I would like those who view this thread to drop by and view the forum instead of merely taking one users opinion on it. I hope you will take an opportunity to get to know me and those that post on our forums.

If you should ever have any questions about blogging, please do not hesitate to ask.

Happy Blogging!

I have had a similar experience on Meetup.com. I joined a couple groups in one weekend and because I didn't participate within that weekend got rude emails about being a "crazy person" stalking the group and one group deactivated me. Not to sound rude myself, but if that's how one is going to be, no wonder they have problems "meeting people"!

haha, what a cheap &#%(@. Tell her to get a dedicated server instead of the junk that she must be using if her server is filled.
