My Blog: One Month In!

Hey Everyone,

I've officially been a blogger for over a month now! I would be interested in peoples opinions on my blog. I would be very interested in exchaning links with anyone who feels that my blog could compliment theirs.

I'd ditch Blogger and go with WordPress. The longer you go with Blogger the harder it will be to switch. You already have your own domain name, so that's the big step. I used blogger for about a week and quickly gave it up. WordPress installation is just about as easy as it gets.

Also, why not install phpBB on your webspace and host your own forum? Or do you get traffic through proboards?

Both WP and phpBB are free.

In general, you want to add value to your own domain and send traffic there, rather than to someone else's (proboards e.g.).

I checked out your blog - it was informative and the articles are well-written. It might help to change to a different template that has more visual "pizazz" once you've been at it for a little while longer.

MBHunter - I also use Blogger and would like more information about why you recommend shifting from Blogger to WordPress. I've found Blogger to be pretty user-friendly, and it (of course) integrates well with other Google useful products (analytics, adsense, etc.). I'd eventually like to re-design it and add a lot more graphic elements - is this something that is more easily done on WordPress, rather than Blogger?

People keep telling me about word press but I had trouble getting the layout the way that I wanted. It was really easy to transfer my post over but I got frustrated with the limitations of the moveable templates. I guess now that I am a little more familiar with HTML I can experiment a little more. I can keep my blogger blog going for now import them to wordpress and see how it goes!

I do not do my own hosting, blogger hosts for me. Proboards also hosts for me. I'm new and still learning!
