Reputation: | Welcome, Nick. Your question seems sort of broad...can you narrow it a bit for us?

| Senior Member | I think it may help to first narrow down what you want your blog to be about. What topics do you normally write about? What do you want to write more about? Who do you imagine your audience would be (what age group, lifestyle, etc)? Once you figure this out, it can sometimes help to look at your competition (officially called a "Competitive Analysis")--Google to see if there are blogs out there that have a similar theme. Who is your competition? Are there similarities in writing style among them? How do they handle advertisements? What is the "look and feel" of the blogs? Then figure out what your blog would offer that is different and special compared to the others out there. |

Reputation: | You can develop a content plan about what you want to write. From there onwards choose a proper content management system for your blog and you are on. Slowly you can ease into SEO and marketing your blog. |

Reputation: | I typically spend a lot of time on BlogCatalog.com for great help. Also, reading http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com and http://www.problogger.com are great places to start learning about all of the things that you mentioned. It's exciting to get into blogging, but if you want to do it seriously you'll need to invest a tremendous amount of time, especially if you're starting from scratch. I would spend several days digesting a ton of information before I jump into anything too quickly. Read those blogs!
