Suggestion thread for Top Personal Finance Blog Rankings

Hi everyone! We just released a new feature: Top 100 Personal Finance Blog Rankings. Here's a post with more details about the features.

This system is still in beta and we need your help to make it better. If you have any suggestions or comments please drop us a note in this thread.

Feel free to suggest a blog for inclusion, especially your own. We plan on expanding this list indefinitely, so we’re not limiting ourselves to just 100 blogs.

Be sure to mention your Twitter username if you have one. We try to find it on your blogs, but sometimes we miss it.

UPDATE 3/19/09 - Feedburner stats missing?

If the blog does not have a Feedburner feed and/or the public access to the Awareness API stats has been disabled, it will be shown as "-".

To enable the Feedburner Awareness API for your blog:

1. Login to your feedburner account, and navigate to your feed.
2. Click on the Publicize tab.
3. Click on the Awareness API option on the sidebar. Activate it.

Hi! So happy to see that Frugal Upstate is included on the top 100 PF blog chart, but I notice my twitter & feedburner stats are incorrect. I tweet under my personal account http://twitter.com/JennFowler. On that account I have 2,952 followers and am following 2,684. My feedburner was 1187 yesterday (mysteriously is 784 today) but both those numbers are higher than the 315. Of course I also just migrated my feeds to Google today, which will mess things up for a while.

Also just as a note-if you have not put your blog on a separate domain (which I am in the process of doing) you can not get signed up for Compete. . . they will not track a blogspot domain. That fact could really skew some of the data.

I would love to have my site added to the Personal Finance blog list.. My site http://www.ChangeJarSavings.com is the second generation of my PF blogging. I started out with Getting Ahead in Life on Blogspot but moved to my own domain in late 2008. The site stats are low but moving to my own domain meant losing some followers.

I think you're off to a great start. Some additional measurements to consider are:
- # of Delicious.com Links (which represents social bookmarking)
- # of Organic Results (you can pull this from SEMRush.com)
- # of Facebook Fans

We couldn't find a good Delicious API (which is a shame because that would be a GREAT stat). SEMRush and Facebook are very cool ideas. We'll definitely check it out!

In order to promote the list, you should create a widget and then allow blogs that are on your list post it on their website. It's a win-win for both of you. WiseBread gets the word out about their list and these bloggers get validation for what they do.

@creditgoddess - the widget is a great idea! We're gonna look into that. Also, those other stats you mention are definitely worth looking into.

You did include my fellow FrugalBlogNetwork members Almost Frugal, Frugal Babe, Not Made of Money, and The Frugal Duchess. My blog TightFistedMiser isn't included nor is Frugal Zeitgeist. I think we'd come close to being in the top 100.
