| Member | i've been using adsense since i started blogging in january, and I've been averaging about $10-12 bucks a month until this past week when I modified where the ads appear on my page. Now I'm averaging about 2-3 dollars a day - so that is a nice jump. If you're not making much, make sure you're looking at where you're placing the ads - you may not have optimal ad placement where people will see them, and click on them. |

Reputation: | Thanks, wwstewart, that's so nice of you. And just a bit more about my experience with Adsense, I recently tried a couple of changes: - I left out those skinny ad links (468x15 - the ones with no descriptions) from within a few of my newer posts and made no money for about a week. - I moved text ads (468x60 - the ones with a short description) up above my post title and ad revenue went up. - I moved my tall text ads (skyscraper) up above affiliate banners on my sidebar and ad revenue went up. Of course by "went up", we're talking maybe 7-8 clicks in the past couple of weeks ... And unfortunately, not quite understanding how the channels worked when I first started and then being too lazy to go and edit them when I did begin to understand it, I'm not exactly sure which ads are getting what clicks. I really must get on that.

Reputation: | I've limited the amount of Adsense Ads I use to only two blocks since I noticed the more ads on a page, the less I was receiving from clicks. For example, I would get clicks from my lower ads that were only amounting to $ .05 while my other ad revenue suffered as well. I would recommend playing around and keeping only your top two channels. By being more selective with the amount of ads, I've been able to generate a lot more revenue from Adsense. It's become more of a supplementary income on my blog though. Text Link Ads and private sponsors continue to be by far the most lucrative. |
