Reputation: | I'm obessed with CVS. I'm so excited to see the new sales paper each week and match up my coupons with it to figure out what i can get for free next! For instance today they had Fruticis shampoo & conditioner for 2.99$ with $2 in extra care bucks (ECB) back. Well I lucked up and had a few coupons for $1 off also so I paid $1.99 for the first bottle and then i got $2 ECB's back. Then i had them ring another bottle up and i applied the $2 ECB & another $1 coupon and paid nothing. It then gave me yet another $2 ECB and I was able to get a pack of toothbrushes that were on clearence for $2 for free!! In the end i got 1 Fruticis Shampoo (Regularly $4.29) 1 Fruticis Conditioner ($4.29) 1 Pack of Butler toothbrushed (3.99) ----------------------------------- Total Out of Pocket -$1.99 Total Saved -$10.58 |

| Senior Member | My local CVS never has diddly squat. And based on all the changes to the coupons they send out and the restrictions I don't see the great deals being as good as they used to. CVS is cracking down on such things and will continue to. Which is sad but will allow them to feel like they aren't being taken advantage of. Although I have been assured by my neigbors who run two stores in another state they have never failed to meet numbers despite avid couponers. I think I'd be more tempted to shop there if the prices weren't already higher than Walmart or Target and I could just get the $2 saving instead of an ECB I had to in turn spend there on higher priced items...especially when I can do the same thing at Walmart/Target with just coupons.

| Senior Member | Is this all stuff that you were going to buy anyways? I love the dollar days at CVS. You can find some good deals on those shelves.

Reputation: | I agree about things at CVS are out of stock and its really irritating HOWEVER it could come out even better for you. I actually like it when stuff is out of stock LOL THat means less out of pocket money for me. For instance, last week they had the razor on sale you pay 9.99 and you got $6 back. They were out of stock so i got a raincheck for it. The raincheck is written for the amount minus the ECB. (i verified this with CVS customer service 800#) So the rain check was written for $3.99. This week i went to redeem it. I got the razor for 3.99, and i had a coupon for $4 off so i got it free. Come to find out it was on special again this week so i got another $6 ECB printed out. So I made $6! So really out of stock can really work out for you. Expecially if something is free after ECBs. Your raincheck will be written out for "free". And they just give you the item. I've done this with shampoo! I also like their CVS advisor board. I get paid to fill out surveys about CVS. I will do my first this weekend and will get paid $10 in ECBs! Oh and btw...i'd MUCH rather goto CVS than walmart. I HATE walmart. Their customer service SUCKS! |

| Senior Member | You've never seen the sour faced employees at my closest CVS, which is at a major mall, lol. I'd rather deal with my mother-in-law than try to get them to do something useful like get a raincheck in between the lines of a dozen people. I will be looking into the razors though as I have a stack of 20 of the $4 off coupons and will be using them at Walgreens ($5 RR, plus rebate) and CVS if I can find them this weekend. I just don't have the time to run into town to CVS when we shop the other direction usually. Especially when 8/10 chances they won't have what I'm looking for. And its normally stuff I use I could get cheap/free. I'd have my friends buy it for me, but I figure thats like cheating.

Reputation: | CVS is also a good place for discounted candy after Easter and Halloween. I've seen discounts as deep as 75% off, especially if it's been more than a week after. However, I usually use the candy as filler items to make the total $20 when I have a $4 off a $20 purchase CVS coupon, for example. |

Reputation: | So, I'm wading into the CVS game. So far I'm doing well, having received nearly as many ECBs as I've spent and I've gotten a ton of stuff. Any experienced CVSers have tips, etc? Thanks for the advice. |

| Senior Member | I've read about the ECB game and think it's a cool concept but it just doesn't work for me. I do all my shopping at Meijer...so it's hard to justify making a special trip. This may change if I get back onto a prescription for allergies or something, but for now, the prices at CVS leave a lot to be desired. And for some reason I usually feel like the stuff I get there is stuff I don't REALLY need. I think I would also feel a little guilty doing multiple transactions just for the ECBs. |
