Reputation: | Itll be tough to get a 1080p 52" LCD for $1000 - even 60hz sets (120hz are the newest breed of LCDs). Prices are dropping though to the $1500 range.. I suggest you keep a close eye on a HDTV Deal site -- doing this youll get a good idea what a good price a 52" 1080p LCD is and you can also take advantage of a great deal if you see one. (You can usually save $200-400 on a deal). I suggest watching MyHDTVDeals.com .. I believe its updated daily. |

Reputation: | I may be completely out of line and if so I apologize. I don't yet know all the ways of Wisebread. But wouldn't it be a better deal not to purchase such a behemoth in the first place? |

| Senior Member | newegg.com usually has very competitive prices on electronics. I did a search for your specs and 19 items came up http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...20than%2050%22 As you can see, there aren't really any at the $1000 price point, but there is a recertified (I'm guessing that's a fancy way of saying refurbished) Toshiba at $1499. Another nice thing about newegg.com is the user reviews--they have been really helpful to me in the past. If you sign up for the newegg.com newsletter you will get emails about special deals too. The email gives you special coupon codes to use for the sale items. |

Reputation: | Newegg.com does have pretty good pricing (I buy almost all my computer parts from there) but please be aware of their TV Return policy (I believe this applies to any big screen TV at newegg.com) Newegg.com's [TV] Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy.
As much as a I love newegg.com that return policy scares me a little. If you don't like the TV you go for some reason (the look of it, picture quality, etc.) it sounds like you're out of luck..... ouch. |

Reputation: | well folks, just so you know, i managed to snag a 55' 1080p lcd for newegg.com for 1199$ with free shipping. i even did the energy calculations, and figured it would cost about 5$ a month to run at our normal usage, with our previous old style tv costing 13$ (and as to why buy? the wife and i love games and movies, we saved for a year to get it, and of course, paid in cash.) |

Reputation: | I know my friend got one on the cheap, because the model he had didnt have a hd converter for using an antenna... so he cant get any HD channels via air antenna, and come the time all the stations swith he wont be able to get any air antenna channels, if you arent looking to use air antenna, maybe finding one of those is what you could do.... mind you I have no idea what the situation on the HDTV's having converter box's on them..... hopefully something can be pulled from this
