Reputation: | I've been subscribing to Borders email newsletters for a couple of months now and I've had some surprisingly good discount offers. 40% off the price of any book is common and todays is 30% Coupon & Storewide DVD Sale. You can tailor your emails as well. This is from the January email: Quote:

Reputation: | They were amazing during the Christmas shopping season. DVD boxed sets for $19.99, that sort of thing. I enjoy those coupons. Borders is the only place that sells the Paperchase journals I like to write in, so I use those coupons to buy them. |

Reputation: | I'm going back to Uni next month, I hope the discounts apply then. I would imagine they anticipate sales going up this time of year.

Reputation: | I've been a subscriber to Borders' newsletter for more than a year and have used their coupons a number of times. The catch is they don't always have the book I want in stock so I end up either waiting for them to get it in or ordering it online. |

Reputation: | You do sometimes have to be careful to read the coupons. Sometimes they apply only to books, sometimes to music or movies. Sometimes they are storewide. That said, whether the coupon is applicable to an item depends more on how the item is coded than whether the item actually falls into the specific category. Before Christmas I was able to use a 40% off one book on a game, because of the way the game was coded (went in for a book that they didn't have). |

| Member | Barnes & Noble offers similar discounts and coupons to their members, although you have to pay for the membership. I will say that by purchasing my Christmas cards and most Christmas gifts at Barnes & Noble the day after Thanksgiving, I was able to turn what normally would be $223.12 purchase into $68.59, by maximizing my coupons and membership discount. |

Reputation: | I get Barnes & Noble emails like this - every so often they'll have amazing coupons, like 40% one item or something. How do you join the Border's list? Is it just like registering on the site? |

1. Pick up a Borders Rewards card at any Borders store. 2. Register your Borders Rewards card at bordersrewards.com 3. At registration time, provide your email address and they'll start sending their coupon-bearing newsletters to you. | |
