Reputation: | Amazon just had a Bourne and HDDVD Drive sell for the Xbox 360 for like a $120 total. I missed out on it though. I'm not really interested in HDDVD or BluRay. Shit, I still have a SDTV, and have had a Xbox 360 for 2 years now. I've been pressured toward getting a HDTV for a couple of years now, and haven't made the transition yet. |

Reputation: | Funny you mention "pressure." I'm getting a weird feeling that companies are artificially generating technology demand. I'm pretty happy with my old TV (a largish Sony flatscreen). I've had it for 3 years. When people see it they say "oh my gosh, why don't you have a plasma?" When people see my video ipod, they shake their head and say "that's so two generation ago, get a new one, or better yet, get an iPhone." But I don't need a plasma TV nor do I need an iPhone. Yet people look at me with pity when I bust out my gadgets that are "so 3 months ago." *sigh* |

Reputation: | I just recently got HD. It's hard to go back to standard def. My complaint is there aren't enough HD channels. Also, the Food Network really really needs to move to HD..... |

Reputation: | Is there really a big difference in leap from SD to HD? I recently played my Xbox 360 on a HDTV for the first time in a while and all I see are improvements in color, brightness, etc. I mean, nothing that's going to get me to drop $500 for a new tv. I just don't have the money to do it anyways, and if I did, the money would probably go toward greater lengths if it were invested in something else. |

Reputation: | I know it makes a huge difference when you're watching sports. When I watch football I can literally see the blades of grass on the field. I can't believe how crappy regular tv is once I've experienced HD. It is one of those luxuries you've got to allow yourself to enjoy as a sports fan. |

Reputation: | There are some games that utilize the HD advantage on the xbox 360 much more than others. For example, "Dead Rising" has lots of text that is difficult to read on SD tv's, while HDTV's show it really well. I haven't made the jump yet, but I have read that many HDTVs are going to drop in price in 2008 significantly. The superbowl season will see some great deals for sure, usually the best prices for the year. |
