Arrow Costco Overflow Merchandise

Have you ever wondered where Costco liquidates its merchandise? A conventional retailer may just put on sale the odd lot of items left in a display. But the warehouse business model is to move everything out and not put it on clearance.

Here in San Diego, there is the GTM Stores http://www.gtmstores.com/
You can get great deals on all types of merchandise. They not only sell from Costco, but from other chain stores as well.

One of the reasons that I mention this is that it is worth finding out from your own regional Costco as to where they send their odd stocks of merchandise. You may have your own GTM style store in your region that buys from Costco.

I know some of the foods here go to Grocery Outlet, but I am not sure where the rest goes.

Most of ours seem to make it to the Big Lots or donated to Goodwill. I heard they took alot of the stuff around the time of the spring floods to shelters and food pantries as well. We recently let our BJs membership lapse as it wasn't worth the $45 for just getting gas and the occasional case of water. I wish we had a Costco close as they seem to still be a good deal. BJs is practically regular retail on lots of stuff.

I've noticed that most of Costco's liquidated stuff goes to Big Lots. I buy a lot of little appliances like toaster ovens and microwaves from Big Lots.
