Lightbulb Ebates.com!

A friend just pointed me to Rebates, Cash Back, Discount Coupons, Online Coupons (yes that is a referral link, but even if you don't want to click it, I still think you should check out the site).

The premise behind Ebates is that they point you to shopping sites, and since those shopping sites pay them for referring business, they share some of that revenue with you in the form of cash back bonuses. Additionally, Ebates has a number of coupon codes for various sites, ranging from money off to free shipping.

The catch is that they only pay out once a quarter, and you have to have earned more than $5 to get a check (if you haven't, it carries over).

Personally, in one purchase, I earned enough that I will get cash back the next time they mail checks. I was looking for a new pair of running shoes, and found a coupon on Ebates for 10% off. I used their affiliate link, and got 10% off, plus 8% cash back. On top of that, the site was offering 10% off for new customers. All in all, I saved a nice chunk of money.

Default is SavingsWatch better?

my non-scientific research suggests that Coupons Online at SavingsWatch: Sale, Rebate, Bargain, Deal offers more cash back and has better coupons and offers. Maybe these guys will get into a "rebate war" and start raising their commission levels even higher ;-)

I've never heard of this site before, will have to check it out.

I've used ebates and would give it a so-so rating. The problem I've had is ebates wouldn't give me a rebate/cashback if I'd used another coupon in conjunction w/ their rebate. I have asked them several times why they won't credit me and they just point to a line in their disclaimer that says something like "ebates has the right to refuse payment blah blah blah" vague catchall-type bullcrap. Humph.
