Default Get paid to view ads?

Hey there, guys.

Recently, my cousin showed me a site where you can get paid to view ads for 30 seconds. I don't know if you have heard about it before or not. It is called Bux.to.

I was skeptical at first because it was the first time I have heard about such thing. I know about Google Adsense and the like, but a site where they will pay you money to look at a site, no way could it be real!

So I did some Google searches and looked through their site, including forums. It seemed like Bux.to was a legitimate site, where people actually do get paid. However, the amount is very small. One ad viewing for 30 seconds is 1 cent. And you get about 10 of them per day.

Even though it was a legitimate site, I didn't really want to do it at first because the payout rate wasn't really worth the effort. However with everything gets so expensive, I might as well do something to keep up with the inflation rate. Of course, I am not really going to view the ads for 30 seconds. I just open one ad, and then proceed to do other things, such as reading news, blogs, forums and of course Wisebread. After I finish reading one passage, I will go back to see if 30 seconds have passed. Then I will open another ad. Same pattern follows.

10 cents a day might not be much, but it will be a conceivable amount if you refer others to sign up.

If you want to check it out, visit the link. It has me listed as the referral, if you don't mind.

I used to do that same thing with a different site. I gave up on it because to get a payout, you usually have to earn about $30 and it takes FOREVER to do that. And the ads are usually those "MAKE MONEY FROM HOME AND GET $3000 A WEEK" ads. It wasn't worth it for me.

The key to these kinds of ventures is you don't make your money doing what you signed up to do. You make it either by having a boatload of referrals and getting a kickback for their efforts, or by building up a personal mailing list by providing information of value and then inviting them all to sign up when a new program rolls around.

These businesses also depend on a lot of people not cashing out. Bux.to isn't as bad as some, but the math is still a loser for Bux.to if everyone cashes out. They charge $19.10 for 1,000 views. They pay out $0.02 per view ($0.01 to you, and $0.01 to your sponsor). That's $20.00 per 1,000 views. Minus 90 cents. But a lot of folks will never cash out, so this isn't significant. The difference is a lot greater in some others.

Bux.to has also been around for a bit, so the possibility of getting a lot of referrals is lower.

Also, think about this: $10 = 1,000 views = 30,000 seconds spent viewing ads = 8 hours 20 minutes so you're getting paid under $1.25 per hour. Can you earn more than that elsewhere?

Mighty Bargain, thanks for doing the math for me. You're right, there are much better uses of my time!

I wonder if the math is the same for MyPoints? I usually click on a couple of ads a day and I always go through mypoints if I'm doing online shopping. I was noticing that I have almost $200 worth of gift certificates built up over there. I think I'll use them for my Christmas shopping

Heheh, thanks for pointing these out. I was going to to mention these in my first post, but decided not to because it would make my post too long.

I totally agreed with everything you mentioned above. I just would like to add a little bit to your comments about the payout rate. If you upgrade your account to Premium, you make .0125 per click. And if it happens that one of your referrals also upgrade to Premium, then you two would be getting .015 out of each viewing collectively.

And of course if everybody cashes out, then these businesses like Bux.to would fail miserablly. That's why Bux.to makes you wait 30 days for Premium and 60 days for ordinary account when you ask for a payout as a way of neutralize that effect a little bit.

Finally, about the hourly rate, I already the calculations before I signed up.
Of course, if you ACTUALLY view an ad for 30 seconds, then comparatively you would be getting $1.25 per hour. That's not good, I admit. The good thing is you don't have to view any of these ads for 30 seconds. You can just open one ad and then continue doing what you are doing, like reading an online article. After you finish reading like one part of the article, you can look at the ad screen if 30 seconds have passed. If it doesn't, just continue reading another passage of the article. And if it does, you can click another ad and repeat the same action. If you do this, you only spend like 3 seconds ON opening a new ad and closing the expired ad. And you still get the credit as if you were ACTUALLY viewing each ad.

Let me do the math for you.
Let's say it takes you three seconds on clicking an ad. And there are 3600 seconds in an hour. In conversion, you make $12 per hour. Not bad.

Oh one more thing. it is not a good idea to be overly obsessed with getting your 10 ads share each day. What I am saying is there is no need to open your computer just so that you can click these ads and then shut it off after you are done clicking them. That's not worth it.

Just to be clear. I wasn't trying to make an argument on why you should sign up for Bux.to. I was just stating my opinions on this topic.

I use MyPoints too. It takes clicking on about 160 e-mails to get a $5 gift card. That's if you don't purchase anything. I purchase things occasionally, and check to see if I get points for eBay purchases. I worked out the math here.

As for your $200 worth of cards, cash them out ASAP!! I've noticed that there's been "point inflation" over the years so your points buy you less as time goes on. The big gift cards are a better "value." The gift cards for the discount stores (Target, Wal-Mart) are more "expensive." The "cheaper" cards seem to be for stores that have a high markup already.

I've had a good experience with MyPoints. I redeemed a $10 Cracker Barrel gift card Thursday night and it arrived today (Monday). That's pretty darn fast in my book!

As far as I have learned, the best way to approach these sites from a 'money-making' standpoint is the referral/affiliate route. Seriously, it takes too much time to make the cash-out minimum, and generally isn't worth the amount of work involved.

The only site I've had truly decent luck with AND get a quick and painless payout has been FunCashOnline (referral link).

But yes, you can make a decent amount of cash, but you have to let others do the work for you

I am currently a member of bux.to --> (referral link). I first learned about it from someone that posted it on WB. It is true you only make literally pennies by clicking. I have made $4.43 in my clicks and about $200 in referral clicks. I have requested a payment which will take about 60-90 to process. I will update this post if I actually receive it.

Most of these work best for you if you get referrals. I myself have been planning on using the ones I am a member of for holiday funds (click all year and hope I meet cashout in Oct/Nov). not quite as nice as a savings account, but I think I'll be making it on three different accounts this year for a total of around $100.
