Default Google's Grand Central Phone Service

[qote] Q: What is GrandCentral?
A: Based in Fremont, California, GrandCentral provides an innovative web-based voice communications platform that helps you manage all your phones and phone numbers through one simple interface. You get a single phone number that forwards to all of your phones, giving you one number for life. [/quote]
While they don't have every area code (especially mine, lol) they do have quite a few available and it makes for a great number to use for online forms and other contacts where you don't want to give out your actual phone number. Some people have had issues getting a number reserved, but I got in no trouble and have a couple invites left if you aren't able to get one. It normally takes a day or so to get your e-mail from Grand Central so be patient.

I have a small computer repair and diagnosis company called The Geek Invasion. I did not want to go through the expense for another phone bill so I signed up with Grand Central. I have the same problem remembering the phone number. All the calls coming in show up as "Grand Central" on my caller id, so I know it is a business call.

I have my number on a post-it on my desk for when I need to remember it and programmed into my Robo-form so I don't have to remember it. I use the number for samples and other offers that require a phone number.

I've been using Grand Central since June 2007. I love the "Click to Call" feature you can enable in your online address book. Saves on long distance, allows you to avoid using cell phone minutes when you're near a land line, and can't be beat for shielding your "real" phone number from possible kooks on the loose in the wilds. I have it bookmarked in Firefox's Toolbar Folder with it showing just my phone number so I can easily remember it. Since missed calls and voicemails push a notification to my email client I have almost instant access at my computer even for those calls that I don't have set to ring any of my phones. I can't wait to see what may be rolled out in future updates and enhanced features. It may even be possible to use a VOIP number as one of your ring to numbers. I don't use VOIP because my internet is via satellite and there's a 7 second or so latency in transmission. Send me a private message if you are unable to sign up without an invite. However, I believe it was recently opened up to everyone.

They have my area code, but my city isn't listed. I'm in Southern Oregon, and most of Oregon is the same area code. The large city near me isn't listed, but places in the Central/Northern area of the state are. Does that matter? Can I just pick a city, because it's the same area code? Or should I wait until they add my city?

I don't know if it matters, but all of the cities they have listed are a long distance call from my house.

You can go to www.grandcentral.com and click on "Reserve Number". My account was setup in about 2-3 days.
