Question Are Supermarket Coupons for Booze a New Trend?

I don't always use manufacturer's coupons --but I do go through the supermarket circulars each week for the loss leaders.

What caught my eye was that there was a loss-leader coupon for certain brands of liquor in the Albertson's circular (like the type for 99-cent eggs, limit one).

I always see specials for liquor in drugstore circulars (CVS, RiteAid, etc.)---but I don't remember seeing them as a coupon in the supermarket circulars.

Maybe I should start stocking up for the holidays....

Yup, sometimes that's the only way you can get through the holidays.

I wonder if there is any correlation between tough economic times and increase in alcohol consumption.

Lynn---It did come across my mind that there could be a correlation between hard economic times and liquor consumption.

It also occurred to me is that we are seeing much more aggressive sales promotions from retailers in ways that we have not seen in the past---The competition is so fierce that consumers will be seeing a type of retail cannibalism as retailers try to gobble up each others business.

dangit, Shaws hasn't had any of those. Albie's needs to share with the rest of the family.

I know in Mass there are alcohol coupons and rebates in the sunday coupon inserts (which I can't use in ME, lol). There are often rebates or discounts on multiple bottles at the NH liquor store though. I know we were getting paid .01 after rebate for vodka for months. Each month a new brand was on sale for 9.99 with a $10 rebate.
