Default Woot.com

I'm guessing some of you have already heard of Woot.com, but if you haven't, it's a site that focuses on 1 "amazing" deal per day (usually a tech type item). The items are limited in quantities and the "community" section of the site is for people to comment about the product on sale... usually someone froogles it to see if it's really that good of a deal. There are also "side deals" at the top of the website for woot members only.

Today, for example, they are selling Refurbished 8GB iPod Nanos (2 colors available) for 134.99. Not sure how much shipping will tack on but it's a pretty good deal. A refurb directly from apple (which comes w/ a $15 itunes card) is $169. So unless shipping is $20 it still would beat the apple store even if you didn't count the gift card.

My wonderful boyfriend checks the site religiously every day... every once in a while there are some good things on there. (Roomba vaccuums seem popular).

One thing I will say is that the site almost seems to encourage impulse buys. The giant "I Want One" button is pretty enticing and I can see how you could get easily caught up in just the idea of it.

I bought from Woot.com a few times. I don't usually find the deals very attractive but there were some good ones. Shipping is usually $5. Once in a while, Woot runs a Woot-off, which is where they keep putting up a new deal every time one sells out.

If you like Woot, do check http://shopping.yahoo.com/ as well. There is another daily deal from Woot on that page.

I've ordered a couple of things from Woot and a t-shirt from shirt.woot and have been very happy with my purchases. The customer service is very good. Shipping is a flat $5. For some items, that's a lot. For others, it's dirt cheap. My thought is that it all evens out in the end. Some people have complained about how long it takes for items to arrive. I haven't had that problem, but I'm in the same metro area as the Woot warehouse (Dallas/Fort Worth).
