Start living a healthy life

Friends, I know how you feel when I start talking about *quitting cigarettes (http://www.medquit.com)*. People who smoke can give you a hundred reasons why they smoke and may be more than that for not quitting the same. Addiction is the only word that can be used in this context.

When you find pleasure in a single smoke, a hundred of chemicals are getting introduced into your body. The most addictive of this chemical is nicotine. Nicotine is harmful like the extreme drug marijuana. When your body gets used with that drug, the deprivation can cause some real problems.

The problems arising arising all these will keep you away from quitting smoking to the complete level and getting into a healthy lifestyle. So, just think for a while, before getting into things.

Beware LOVENOX Sales Push

My wife was recently hospitalized for blood clot in her leg. Upon discharge she was issued a prescription of LOVENOX which was to be taken two injections per day for 5 days along with a prescription of Coumadin which takes a few days (about 3) to work.
The LOVENOX is packaged individually preloaded injections at 10/box at a cost of $1143.99 (Walgreen's retail cost). They don't take refunds/give credit of unused injections, so I have to eat the $114.39 per injection not used (two for us $228.78). They also push the entire box of LOVENOX rather than sell the appropriate number of injections required. They should sell the meds at 6 injections, with another script for 2 with a refill. It would save consumers like us from being stuck with unneeded costly meds. I believe LOVENOX knows this but are pushing the providers into issuing unnecessary amounts at the cost of the consumer.
I say............. BEWARE of this practice.:(

Part of sustainable tourism model

Numerous examples exist of organizations/movements advocating a more radical approach towards environmentalism and some of the prominent ones include

•	Greenpeace
•	Deep Ecology (founded by Arne Naess)
•	Eco-Feminist Connection

The Eco-Feminist Connection is believed to go deeper than Deep Ecology in addressing the man-centered approaches towards development within the society and the fact that the females of the human race best represent the close ties with Mother Nature. Those environmentalists that are considered to be less militant insisted on the protection of selected parcels of land that held natural and cultural significance, with the request that industrialization and development occur outside the realm of such areas.

According to Bowler, a fundamental difference existed between the two camps. Those groups that were less enthusiastic (i.e., those in favor of the development of nature reserves) recognized that minor changes could occur within the current system, while the most enthusiastic environmentalists wanted to destroy the existing social order.

It is the former group that in a practical sense has made the most significant gains in the context of the global arena. Eco-tourism, to some, is merely an extension of this philosophy of ‘working within the system’ and one that, at least conceptually, attempts to knit the elements of the economy and ecology together (via parks) through the tenets of environmentalism and sustainable development.

Scores of environmental groups and environmentalists were up in arms to preserve the natural ecology of the state of Kerala. When the ‘silent valley’ was being mapped to put up a hydro electric project, it became a controversial issue in the state. Today, the *hotels in Thekkady (http://www.keralatravelcompany.com)* and that too adjacent to the nature reserves are given sanction to commence operations only after the clearance is given by the environment ministry.

Does anybody else keep an "IDEAS" file?

Am I the only one that keeps a big fat file called "IDEAS"??

I started it when I was a kid, and it is still the most important file in my cabinet. It is full of napkins, matchbook covers, papers and anything else I wrote on when the idea hit me, lol.

Anytime an idea strikes me, I jot it down. Some are one sentence "fixes" for a problem, some are elaborate multipage business plans, some are retail, wholesale, networks, inventions, improvements, high tech, low tech, no tech...you name it and it is in there!

I have lived to see several of my ideas turn into successful business ventures (for others) a couple years after I put them in my folder. Fortunately, I have also lived to see some of them turn into successful ventures for me. One thing is for sure, I have more ideas in there than I have time to pursue.

If I had one thing to suggest to anyone in life...it would be to start one if you have not already. You will be amazed at what it can do for you. (besides convincing people you really are very eccentric, or just "nuts", lol)

Anybody else keep one??

NuvaRing and Yasmin Birth Control Dangers

I am curious to know if people are following the frequent news reports about injuries and deaths related to using the NuvaRing and Yasmin birth control methods.

The following is an excerpt I recently read about a California woman who suffered horrible injuries using Yasmin:

"Galinis, 39, indicates that she was prescribed Yaz as a means of alleviating pain from premenstrual cramps, and had only been on the drug for four weeks and one day when she had a stroke in June 2008. Galinis was hospitalized for six months, and doctors had to remove a portion of her skull and brain to save her life. As a result, Galinis has virtually no short-term memory, and her I.Q. has dropped to 77, which is borderline mental retardation."

The full article can be found here (http://www.aboutlawsuits.com/yaz-stroke-lawsuit-filed-in-ca-6528/)

This is one of many mortifying articles and reports like this I've read recently. This poor woman and her family. No one should have to suffer like this. It is heartbreaking.

I am curious to know what your thoughts are.
