Default 8 Great Ways to Re-Use Old Blankets or Sheets..

1. Christmas - To ease taking down post-Christmas trees, lay a sheet down, un-trim the tree, then wrap the tree using the sheet as a sling and take it out the door.

2. Fall - gather fallen leaves you raked onto the sheet and take it to the compost heap.

3. Camping - keep the inside of your sleeping bag clean by making a liner from an old sheet. Fold a twin sheet in half, stitch across the bottom and halfway up the side.

4. Banner - paint your next garage sale sign onto a sheet. Don't forget to lay down newspapers under the sheet before painting.

5. Halloween - the traditional ghost costume, or make a quick octopus costume by cutting strips and braiding them into legs.

6. Travelling with kids - lay the sheet across the kids seats, and at the end of the trip, shake out the snacks and crumbs quickly and easily.

7. Picnics - use a fitted twin bedsheet - it won't come off as easily in the wind.

8. Kids Room - make a stuffed animal hammock by folding the sheet into a triangle, tack one point to the corner and the other two along each wall.

For old blankets that aren't too thread-bare you can use them for filler in quilts if you are crafty. Just don't use an old sheet as the quilt baking... it's terrible to see a beautiful quilt front with a worn old sheet for a backing.

Great tips.

We also use this so our leather seats don't get cold in the winter.

I use old sheets at the beach and also (along with old towels) to put into my dog's crate for her to sleep on.

Old sheets also come in real handy when you are packing a moving truck. I wrapped nice wood pieces (such as my kitchen table top) in old sheets before putting them in the truck and it really helped to prevent scratches.

You could also use them as dropcloths for painting.

Thumbs up Very simple to do....

I like to use old sheets and blankets (not stained or torn of course) as couch and love seat covers. They are really easy to make and there's no sewing involved. You'd be surprised at how different the room looks with this simple idea.

I've also used old pillow cases to cover "ugly" couch pillows too. I used a hot glue gun for those and that can also make a big difference.

Definitely. Especially a blanket/sheet with a unique/funky pattern can really brighten up a room.
