| Senior Member | My parents are trying to find my food dehydrator (hoping they didn't accidentally throw it out or give it away, it was passed from my grandfather and his pride and joy) and in the meanwhile I plan on trying to stock up some meat markdown for cuts I can freeze and thaw when they find it. But I've always just used whatever my neighbor gave me (from the venison and moose they got from car accidents) and not had a choice. What cuts make good jerky?

Reputation: | My uncle used to make homemade jerky and his advice was to always use a really lean cut of meat (like top round, top sirloin, tenderloin). Also, breast meat from turkey/chicken is supposed to work well for jerky. Good luck! |

| Senior Member | never thought of using a roast. Normally the game comes in either ground or steaks, lol.
