My freind gave me an aromatherapy set that came with pots and soil, as well as well as lavander and lemon balm seeds. It was supposed to come with a package of chamomille too, but it got lost at some point. I'm thinking I could just break off a shoot of one of the local aloe plants and start growing that, but it's not quite a victory garden if I'm not growing veggies.

Default Upside-down tomato plants?

Lucille,

I'm so curious about your upside-down tomato plants...I'd love to hear more!

You use 5 gal plastic pails with lids, cut a small hole in the bottom for the plant to hang down out of and hang them off of a pole or structure. Google upside down tomato plants. There are instructions all over the web for doing them. Our biggest worry is we get strong winds here so we are putting up some lattice work behind where the plants are going to go so they hopefully don't blow around too much.

The logic from what I have read is that it puts less stress on the stalks and branches of the tomato plant when they grow upside down and allows them to pollenate better.

Here is a petition urging the next leadership of our country to encourage the return of the Victory Garden:

WOW, so much of what's being discussed here is being covered in really helpful detail on another thread, "Growing mats and more on container gardening..." in the Lifehacks and Personal Development section. There's some great info there so I hope you'll all check it out...
