I don't wear makeup every day, but I do tend to wear stage makeup for gigs. I have a number of somewhat spendy makeup brushes -- MAC, Trish McEvoy, Japonesque -- that work well. However, I also have a number of considerably cheaper paintbrushes (the art store kind, not the "comes in a set of children's watercolors" kind) that also work well. If I needed to replace my supply of brushes on a budget I'd probably go with the paintbrushes.
