Reputation:  (26) |  Buying cosmetic brushes I realized this morning that my set of makeup brushes were ten years old - yuk. So I am planning on replacing them. I noticed Target sold a store brand variety of brushes. But I was not sure if they were really good or not, or what qualities make good cosmetic brushes either. I am guessing it is like paint brushes where better quality or smaller bristles might be better because they apply things smoother. So I'm not sure if I need to sink some major cash into some expensive brushes at some place like Macys or Sephora or if Brushes from Target or Sally Beauty will do just as good of a job. |

Reputation: (10) | Honestly, your make up brushes are something you should splurge on. If you can, I would go for Mac. But buy the brushes individually and only buy ones you know you will use. |

Reputation: (59) | I have a really nice set of brushes that I bought from Sephora about five years ago, and it was definitely a worthwhile purchase. If you get a good set of brushes and take care of them (I wash mine with mild shampoo a few times a month), they last a long time.

Reputation: (27)   | Definitely splurge here. Spending the cash for good brushes in the type and size you need will make even cheap makeup look better. I've got a set I've got no clue what brand they are, but I have heard good things about the Sonia Kushuks, and there is no doubt Sephora's would be amazing. |

Reputation: (10) | Any of the brands mentioned are good. I always go for the natural bristles. It is important to wash your brushes regularly to extend their life. I use a very small amount of baby shampoo and rinse well. The most important thing is to dry them upside down (brush end down) so that the moisture does not creep into the wooden handle. This prevents loosening of the bristles. I have brushes that are over ten years old and still going strong. |
