This wasn't closing time but when I was getting groceries yesterday they had ripe bananas for 99 cents a bag. I bought three. So now I have a big pile of bananas on the kitchen table being made into banana sorbet that is getting stored in those big ice cream tubs in th e deep freeze. Regular bananas were 77 cents a pound so they were around $2 a bunch. When I got them home most of the bananas still have that firm inside and crisp skins. They just looked not so great. This is the recipe I am using, I cut down the sugar per the suggestions in the comments.

Someone mentioned deals at the farmers market. Ours don't generally swing deals at closing time but they do toward the end of the season. We can get a huge apple box full of tomatoes for $20. They are not all 100% perfect by really still good enough for slicing. Last year I found they were selling cukes for cheap and zuchinni also. I am going to try to jump on those deals for pickles and frozen zuchinni. I also find cantelope melons cheap the end of the year. Melon freezes well, we use it in smoothies and that kind of thing.
