Reputation: | Doing some last minute holiday shopping today. I saw this little kid who couldn't have been older than eight or nine walking around with an iPhone and an iPod. One in each hand. I walked over to her and asked her nicely if she was holding those for her mommy. "Oh no," she said, cringing her nose as if the very thought offended her. "These are mine!" Then she patiently explained that she got the iPod for her birthday but what she really wanted was an iPhone, so her mom got her the new iPhone last week. "Why not wait until Christmas so Santa can bring you the iPhone next week?" I asked. "I think I'm getting riding lessons again this year, just like last year," she said in a bored sort of tone. "My parents have no imagination." And then she sighed. Sighed. This kid with an iPhone, iPod, and riding lessons. I want riding lessons! |

They use the iPod more than the phone though, but the iPhone is still used quite a bit. The bills are ridiculous but luckily I don't pay them. | |

Reputation: | I'm not passing judgment on whether kids should or shouldn't have iPods or iPhones; but even if you have the money you don't have to have everything or give your kids whatever they want. |

Reputation: | A friend of mine was recently complaining that he needed to work overtime to afford his car payment. Finishing that statement, he went on to say that he couldn't work tonight because he had to run to DHL to pick up the laptop he bought his girlfriend for christmas, get to the store to buy the guitar hero game for himself, then stop off at the jeweler to pickup the engagement ring. Another co-worker was recently complaining that he just can't get enough overtime and his ARM just adjusted and he wasn't sure he'd be able to make his payment. He also lamented that he owed a massive fine for driving uninsured for three weeks because his insurance dropped him. Being his supervisor, I called him later that day with several overtime shifts for him -- all of which he declined because he had plans to hang out with his friends. I don't mind if people spend money on luxuries for themselves or their kids, but really??? |

Reputation: | Windows XP and Vista! I've used Ubuntu Linux since 2004 and it does EVERYTHING I need to do on a PC. Micro$oft is a waste of $$$! Go open source baby! PS: The iphone is awesome and worth it. |

Reputation: | Ubuntu is an alternative operating system. It is like Windows, but free and less buggy. I also think diamond engagement rings are a huge waste of money. Not only are diamonds stained with blood, but they are not even truly valuable. Their value is artifiically inflated by internatinonal cartels and propped up by massive marketing campaigns. |

Reputation: | Paying designer prices for clothing that is overly trendy that can only be worn for a season. There are plently of cheap knock offs in the bargain chain shops. There is no noticable difference (to my untrained eye anyway) between fabrics, cuts and quality so why bother? Yes, I hate shopping, and I still wear some stuff that I've had since my teens : ) |
