Lightbulb Eating out at Restaurant.com?

These days, the economy being what it is, my husband and I don't have tons of spare cash to squander on full fare. So there's nothing I love more than getting a good deal on dining out. Anytime we get turned on to a good deal at a modest restaurant, we never hesitate to cancel our Saturday night reservations at McDonalds. About a year ago, we stumbled on Restaurant.com and tried it out to see if we could save some money. Well we sure did, and generally we like it, but there are some drawbacks that every consumer should be aware of. If you understand the drawbacks, Restaurant.com can be a great deal and we still use them in addition to just going to great dirt cheap restaurants

I've used Restaurant.com before and it was great. I got my wife about $450 worth of gift cards for about $38. It was fantastic!

As with most industries in this current economic quagmire, restaurants are looking to cut costs too. Although many of those struggling to survive are offering discounts and deals which are worth investigating, food is not the best area to be "cutting costs", when it comes to health risks...lol

Of course it depends on your individual interpretation as to where you draw the line between a bargain and a potential health risk. But every city has Dept of Public Health (or similar agency) that monitors inspections and reports health violations. Never hurts to check that list. It always contains some scary surprises about your favorite restaurants.

I love reading self-promotion threads. What other great links back to your site can you share with us?
