Reputation: | As a follow-up to this thread about relationship costs, I'd like to know your ideas for frugal dates. I live in cold, snowy Wisconsin. I like taking friends out on the frozen lake behind our house. It's great to just walk on the ice, have good conversation, and maybe throw a few snowballs. =) It might be weird, but I also like to go to Festival foods with my friends late at night, get a few snacks, and eat with them at a park or any other hang out place. It's always a blast. What are your favorite frugal dates? |

Reputation: | My 2nd date with my boyfriend (now 16 months!) was participating in a walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We got exercise walking across Brooklyn Bridge and we had time to talk and learn about each other, while doing something good for charity. Also, dating should be easier for students if they have discounts or even free access to museums and zoos. I like cooking dates, which aren't exactly free, but if you're going to buy groceries for cooking anyway, you might as well make it a date. If your kitchen is big enough for two, it's a great bonding experience. And then you'll have dinner, so just rent a movie for a night in that's slightly more romantic than ordering Chinese take-out. |

Reputation: | Cooking is a great date idea! You can learn a lot about a person based on their cooking style. Plus there's a lot of cool sights, sounds, smells and tastes to stimulate your senses. Stargazing and rollerblading are also great date ideas. |

Reputation: | what about the sunset? a calm place where you can see the sun going down, good conversation and maybe an ice-cream (always warm here, no chance to have snow). Or the beach. Dinner at home, self cooking. But to be honest, I have forgotten that... should start again with my girlfriend! |

Reputation: | When my ex and I first started dating, we took lots of walks together. It was nice because we were both shy so a lot of times we could just focus on the path or the scenery and it didn't seem awkward cuz we were exercising. Such fond memories.... oh darn, I miss having a boyfriend! |
