A good, inexpensive source for seeds is your local feed/garden store. Mine has bulk seed bins, and one employee was kind enough to point out that the bulk seeds are MUCH less expensive than the little individual packs. I paid .60 for one-quarter ounce of squash seeds.

I am a Master Gardener. Many Master Gardener programs have an annual or bi-annual plant sale. The usually have plants grown from seed or cuttings. Often pretty interesting things. They also sell seeds that they have harvested. The great thing is it is a fundraiser for the program and is not expensive and you have a whole group of garden experts to ask questions of. Here is a link to the master gardener site...you can click on a state and then check by county for you local extension service. Ask for the Master Gardener program and ask about their plant sale...if you are interested in becoming a master gardener the cost is very minimal and the rewards are great.
