Reputation: | I was just thinking about a situation that I get into fairly often on Amazon...I'll have done all my shopping, and I'll wind up with something like $23.75 in stuff...with the option for super-saver shipping if I buy over twenty-five dollars. Usually, I sort around a bit for another book, that I may or may not need, and then wind up with more like $32 in the cart, but since Amazon sells just about everything these days, there are probably cheaper, useful things I could throw in instead to just break the $25 barrier. So, I thought I'd check - what do you guys throw in the cart when you get in that situation? |

Reputation: | I have a list of books and other things that I'd like to purchase that I keep in my cart but are "saved for later". When I need something to pad the cart to get it up to $25, I usually pick something from the list. I often end up well over $25, but if it was something I was going to buy anyway, that works well for me. Slick Fillers is a great web site that allows you search Amazon by price. I've used that a couple of times when I really only want to spend right around $25. |

Reputation: | Me neither. I often buy from Amazon sellers, rather than from Amazon itself, because they undercut Amazon's prices, but those purchases won't qualify for Super Saver Shipping. |

Reputation: | I have a Presto PowerPop for making popcorn in the microwave (I love blue/black popcorn with a little oil and Nature's Seasonings). When I need to add a couple of more dollars to my cart I add a pack of the PowerCups. Presto 09964 PowerCup Concentrators - Presto In Stock Eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping$2.00 |

Reputation: | I usually only buy from sellers on Amazon so I never quality. But on the few occasions that I do want something new or that no one is selling yet I do what gt0163c does. |

Reputation: | My Amazon cart is full of non-urgent stuff saved for later, so if I'm a bit low, I just pull something out of that list. I tend to use Amazon for bulk food purchases anyway, and those often go over $25. It's nice. I won't have to buy egg noodles again for months, and the added bonus is that I use whole wheat egg noodles, which are inconsistently stocked locally. |

Reputation: | I usually look in the clearance sections and look for beauty or supplements we use anyway to see if they have any on sale. I have found supplements at 80% off before. Usually our Amazon orders are pretty big because we buy bulk. The clearance searches are a good start. |

Reputation: | We don't get cable and rely on DVDs for all our entertainment, so we usually use DVDs to fill out our shopping cart. They come as low as $6.00 for really good movies like Sense & Sensibility (starring Kate Winslet & Emma Thompson), which we recently got for $5.99. Paperback books (though we rarely buy books; we usually get them from the library) are also good, low-cost items. Or look for something in the household or groceries section that you might need. A lot of their prices are better than grocery stores. A lot of their grocery items are bulk packs, but save you in the long run.

Reputation: | Another reason to feel victimized in Canada! We have to spend $39 for free shipping, I generally store the saved items until I qualify or see if there is anything that could be used as a gift. It's a hassle because we cannot get free shipping from Amazon.com but their prices are often better so I tend to have 2 tabs open to compare the shopping carts. |
