My husband and I usually go out to dinner. Not all that frugal obviously. But we do mitigate some of the expense by sharing an entree. And we use our cashback bonus from our credit card to buy gift certs to a couple of the restaurants in the area and just always go to one of those. We get a little bit of a discount that way.

We also sometimes do our grocery shopping on our "dates". Fun, no? But we both enjoy it. We take our time wandering the aisles and get a chance to talk. We shop off a list so I don't think we spend any more than I would on my own.

  • A walk and/or picnic in the park
  • Going out for ice cream rather than dinner
  • A game of mini golf
  • Browsing/Window Shopping/People Watching at the mall
  • Weekend matinee showing of a movie, or stay in and rent a movie
  • Cooking a dinner together at home
  • if you're nerdy like me and my fiance, you can stay in and play some video games together

  • Set up a camp in your living room!

hey everyone, these are great ideas.
Hey Budgets are Sexy, i like the one about the bar and pretend pick up! That sounds sexy! My husband and I do something like that on our date nights at home.... he pretends he's arrived to pick me up and we have a nice dinner at home while my kid is asleep.

We usually like to walk somewhere (we used to walk along the beach), grab a cheap meal together, and end it with a movie (DVD of course).

Oh by the way, local libraries have great movies that we love renting from.

  • Be a Sunday driver and go out for a drive in a scenic area.
  • When it's warm enough weather, go out for a day at the beach.
  • Get food from a favorite restaurant but get it to go. You can save on drinks and tip.
  • Spend time looking through old photo albums or scrapbooks.

Play old video games ALL DAY or night! Of course there is a consequence for losing. =P

Granted they're not really old - PS3 Sonic game, and also the X-men game.

And I have cousins in the area who have the same system - so I would borrow games from them that K and I can play. =D
