Indeed. In some homes, the TV has taken the place of the fireplace. It's a fixture.

We got rid of our cable - for the second time - about a year and a half ago. We don't watch broadcast tv either. Anything we have an interest in, we get through Netflix. Yeah, we probably miss some good shows, but we also don't waste time watching a lot of reality tv junk.
