I have a coworker who charges his cell phone and his laptop here in the office every single day. I have trouble believing it saves that much money, but I guess even a few cents here and there adds up.

Default It more than triples your investment!

One source of saving lots of money for me and my family is the Entertainment Book. Depending on what city you live in, the book will cost anywhere from $20-35; however, the amount of savings you get more than triples your investment in the cost of the book. For example, you can get 50% off your drycleaning, car wash, restaurants (both fine and casual dining); hotels, activities, movies, etc. Last year alone, we saved over $575 using the book, including a visit to Miami's Metro Zoo with our visiting grandchildren, where the coupon in the book saved us over $25.00 in admission costs. That in itself paid for the cost of the book. I keep it in the car because we never know when we're using it again. If you want to purchase the book or even explore the website, visit www.entertainmentbook.com. You're going to save lots. Since the book is valid from Nov. 1, 2007 to Nov. 30, 2008, they're now offering the 2008 book for 50% off, and you still have a little more than 8 full months to save money. This is a very good deal. I've been purchasing the Entertainment Book for more than 10 years.

Entertainment books are great...I've found the best thing about them is that they get you to break out of a rut, and visit new places in your area.

My parents get an entertainment book each year as a gift. We actually find it a hassle to have one. It seems like we never have it when we need it, and when we do have it the place we are at doesn't have coupons in it. My mother actually ended up giving lots of the coupons to coworkers just so they'd get used.

I too used Entertainment books for many years...now I live in an area that really doesn't have much going on so I don't have one but once I move back to civilization I am going to order one up! I would always take a good look through it when I rec'd it and many places especially in tourist areas repeat their coupon year after year because the competition is stiff. Then I would basically just leave it in my car's glove compartment and it was there when I needed it.

One little energy hack I use and I don't know what it saves me but it seems like it is the energy efficient way to go. I got in the habit of using my car charger to charge my phone and only use the ac charger when I travel. I figure I am driving anyway. I found I would leave the phone charger plugged into the wall outlet even when I wasn't charging...which drew current...not very energy smart.

charge your cell phone and laptop at work. this works like a charm. it cuts down on the amt of electric and energy in your house bill!

Default Re: Soda habit

I agree that soda is not good for you, but I too have a soda habit; however, instead of spending 60 cents for a can of soda at work, I buy cases of soda when a good sale comes up, and I take a couple of cans with me to work everyday. Since we have an employees' lounge at work, I can get a cup with ice and enjoy a cold soda. I save about 44 cents per can doing it this way, so with the 10 sodas that I consume every work week, I save $4.40 which comes out to more than $220 a year.

I also don't like to drink generic soda. It's either Coke or Pepsi, as the generic sodas tend to have a funny taste.

just curious what you found less convienent about the RO system? we have an RO system mounted under our sink with a dedicated faucet and i love how easy it is. i think its much easier than having to fill the brita pitcher every day? i use it for all our cooking and drinking water.

I've heard those entertainment books are really good. I didn't think I went out aenough, but someone said if you use it twice you're ahead.
