Reputation: | I saw an interesting article on microfiber cloths this morning. What was interesting is supposedly they work just fine with just water. They remove most of the germs and bacteria either alone or just with water and the mechanical action of the microfiber cloth. I had been using them with cleaners and found you needed about half as much cleaner. I tried one with a bit of water and they do seem to get things extremely clean even without the cleaner. Just think how much you could save if you could ditch most of your cleaners. |

Reputation: | lol ... I thought the thread title read "microfiber clothes" and I was like, that sounds interesting... Anyways, thanks for that useful tidbit. We have a few microfiber cloths; I'll have to use them more. I'm always worried about using cleaning agents because we have pets.

Reputation: | I've used the microfiber mop pads when they first became available, maybe 6 years ago. I'm still using the original set of two I purchased. I rarely have to sweep. I just run the damp mop over the floor and push any debris towards one area of the floor, to pick up later. I just remove the pad from the mop head and pick up the collected dirt and deposit it into the garbage. I do rinse the pad out with soap and put out on the patio when I'm finished. Sometimes, I launder it. I also rinse the pad out, occasionally, as I mop. At the most, if I feel something more is required, I will use vinegar. Vinegar works well on many surfaces which won't be striped of oils, such as, wood, or etch by acids, such as, marble and other types of stone. I do use a slightly damp micro fiber cloth on my granite, then dry with another microfiber cloth. I also clean my sinks, tub, shower walls. It works quite well. Just don't use fabric softener when laundering them, it changes it's texture and absorbancy. Not a problem for me, as I usually use vinegar in place of fabric softener. |

Reputation: | I have a few, and I have a question. One wash, I put my microfiber cloths in with the regular linens and now they have bits of stuff in them. This makes the cloths unsuitable for anything that might scratch. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks...I should use them more, too! |

I have gotten lint in mine by washing them in the regular load. I am probably going to start running them in their own load and hanging them to dry in the future. | |

Reputation: | I'm not sure what the stuff is, it sort of looks like bits of mulch. Which is not unlikely, given that my 4 kids spend a ton of time outdoors and are forever bringing home pockets of organic stuff. |

Reputation: | I would try to hand pluck everything visible, then only wash them with materials that don't hold onto things like mulch, such as, jeans, or sheets. Eventually, the microfiber cloths will expell all those nasty, scratchy things in the rinse water and you'll be able to use them again. If that fails to do the trick, I imagine they're now a shop towel, clean outside items with, or use for tool clean-up. |
