Question Old Gold/Silver--how do I get the best price?

I have some pieces that I never wear, that are not heirlooms and sort of just sit around in my hidden place (thank you "It Takes a Thief" tv show). Some is silver, some gold, some w/teensy diamonds. Please don't envision me sitting in a vault surrounded by sparklies, lol, it's maybe 4 or 5 pieces, but I could better use their worth toward making our current swingset less of a deathtrap.

So where do I go? My regular jeweler guy who reset some heirloom stuff for me awhile back? Pawn shop? Big, old, well known jeweler?

I've never used a pawn shop except to buy, but it just seems a bit shady or something, you know?

what's been your experience? What do you think? I realize that anything is better than nothing, but since it's going toward de-deathtrapping the swingset, more is good.

Thanks,
leslie
