Reputation: | Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to paint (or preferably, antique) stainless steel. I have a shower caddy that doesnt work in the shower, so I want to hang it on the wall to hold oils and what not. However, it's glistening stainless steel, and I would much prefer it to be a darker color. All I am able to find so far is either 1. pay someone to do it, which seems to be a bit ...dumb...for this case, or 2. use nailpolish, and its much too large for me to be bothered with that. Regular paint does not adhere for very long. Suggestions? Thanks! |

| Senior Member | Consider sanding it down or making it a different surface than slick. I haven't had any luck trying to paint stainless steel.

Although, have you tried using Rust-o-leum, designed for metals? You could spray on a sponge or something then quickly apply to the caddy, should work if the caddy is not in the shower or going to have heavy use.
