In my opinion, the cheaper kind tends to break faster. And definitely doesn't have the same warranty and maintenance policy like Oreck. For all the Bissells you'll be stocking up on, one Oreck could probably do the trick and not take up so much space in the closet!

Arrow Shop Vacs Are Cheaper

A mother at my son's school recommended using a shop vac as a regular household vacuum. They live in a house with wooden floors and area rugs. She said that the motor on a shop vac is strong and the lack of attachments is not a bad as they sweep and/or dry mop the floors already.

Plus the shop-vac was super cheap.

I'll stick to my old one now, but the idea did give me something to think about.

I just bought a Bissell Healthy Home and I like it. Before that we had another Bissell bagless vacuum, that we bought cheap ($60 ish) and ran into the ground.

I have 7 children, so we use the heck out our vacuum cleaner. The only I don't like is the way the canister dumps - it has a trap door at the bottom and you hold it over the trash can and push a button - I much prefer being able to pick through the contents. Then again, I let my 5, 6, and 7 yo vacuum so I need to check it!

Last year I needed to buy a new vacuum. In the end, I spent a bit of money on a miele. It is small, powerful and quiet. We just had to save a while before we purchased it.

6 months after our purchase my wife and I still try and reasons to vacuum. We love it.

I have found that spending some money up front can save money, time and stress in the long run.
