At some places you might be risking your ticket for doing that?

Never done it -- thought about it a jillion times. Mainly, I get annoyed at having to pay high prices for junk food, and having to explain that concept to small children (older now) or giving in.

You can get water free though if you ask.

I always thought it was a given that you bring as much food from home as you can fit in your pockets or your moms purse.

Remember to sneeze as you a can of soda, it hides the sound.

Talking Sneaking candy into movies: frugal or cheap

My teen daughter and her father do it all the time . Hubby likes pretzels and M&M's but he does break down occasionally and buys popcorn for both of them. Personally, I see nothing unethical about this issue and you are paying for entry into the theater, aren't you? Nowadays, you have to be tight with a dollar so if you consider yourself frugal (or cheap) what does it matter. You are saving your hard earned money and that's what counts!

Next time you guys go out for dinner, don't forget to sneak in some Mcdonalds fries or a pack of Mcnuggets to munch on for your appetizer. Beats paying those outrageous appie fees amirite? The restaurant gets most of their money from the drinks/main course you buy so screw them! (although in the movie theater case it's the opposite, since you're taking away their primariy source of revenue.)

You will get kicked out if caught most likely, so keep teaching this sort of behavoir to your children.

Stay classless San Diego

To be honest I think you should consider the cost of the snacks as part of the entertainment costs or maybe even go a whole 2 hours without eating?!

I buy my movie tickets from the movie theater, and I buy my food from the grocery store. I don't feel guilty about either purchase.

I sometimes bring candy and maybe a drink to the movies, and I often buy their popcorn 'cause it's so damn good. I transport the items in my purse and consume them in full view of others. There are no signs or rules posted about patrons not being allowed to bring their own items in, or I'd abide by those rules while on the premises. It's not like Disneyland or other amusement parks, where there are clearly posted policies forbidding outside food and beverages.

In my eyes, this is akin to bringing my own wine to a restaurant. It's an option, it's cheaper, and I choose to do it when I plan ahead and have a chance.

Hehe good point. I know I've been able to survive for 2 hours without food.

This is my first post on the forums.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with bringing in outside food or beverage if there are no signs clearly posted saying that it is not allowed.
