Default Target Clearance prices

I just finished reading Lindsey Knerl's Feb. 5 article on Target clearance prices. One thing it mentions is that clearance prices can vary by region.

I live in a very rural midwest state where the only Target store is in a farm town of about 20,000 people. Since there is such a small market for electronics in this town, I have gotten some amazing deals on electronics and gadgets there. Some really good stuff gets put on clearance here, and often goes all the way down to 75% off. I would not have believed these steals if I hadn't got them myself.

Here are just a few examples: RCA 100 watt stereo for $26, DVD recorder for $34, 6 megapixel minicam for $25, 7 inch LCD monitor for $40, Seagate mini hard drive for $17, Robosapien (the full size one, not the mini) for $12.48, grey army jacket for $11, Philips headphones for $3.74. These are just some of the items I have actually bought for myself - there were other steals that I didn't go for.

This town also has a Wal-Mart and a Shopko. I have gotten an occasional great deal at those stores too, but not as often as at the Target. I've noticed more people cruising the endcaps lately!

I got a Zen Stone mp3 player last week for $15. I love mine and my hubby wanted one too. The only catch was all they had left was pink. So he has my black one and I have the new pink one.

We currently have only one Target store in a town of about 150,000 people. They are building a Super Target next year. The post holiday items & the home items end caps get ravaged right away. I think there is a stead group of end cap shoppers that know the schedule. I still find good deals in the health & beauty end caps and electronics end caps at our Target.

Try to find our where the Target regional offices are for your area.
The Target regional offices for our area are next to one of their stores. The clothing department at that location always have racks and racks of discounted merchandise, which I imagine are the last stop before they are sent to a jobber.

We've finally noticed a drop in the clearance stuff getting cleaned out after the first markdown. Our Target just came in about a year ago so it was pretty packed with people who bought about anything just because it was Target and not Walmart for once. Its finally slowed down though and I've been catching some great pet and HBA items for free or less than a buck(with coupons). Electronics never last long enough or get marked down enough though. Which is fine by me, Best Buy normally has better prices anyway.

The spring clearence has started at the Target I mentioned. So far most prices are only 30% off. One big ticket item worth mentioning is the Microsoft Zune 30GB. Originally $190, they were marked down to $133. There were several of the brown model left, maybe one or two other colors. If they make it down to 50% it will be an absolute steal!!

The clearance items are getting picked over quickly this year. Not too much I'm looking for. I did get a SONY "Active Speaker System" dock for mp3 players at 75% off. Originally $60, they have a few left at $14.98
