Default Are there decent sites on which to find reviews of used vehicles?

I always think of Hank Hill saying, "This isn't a review, it's a paid advertisement."

But I need a new vehicle. And I need it pretty fast. And I am in no way purchasing a new new vehicle, no matter what dh says.

We've got three boys and I am prone to carrying DIY materials (e.g. concrete, shoe moulding, old sofas...) and my great fear is finding a great find and not being able to fit it in my vehicle. Not much for all that push buttony stuff. Am partial to hondas, toyotas, saturns, but I really am not picky. (ooh, I do like the outback, now that I think of it). I've begun asking people in parking lots how they like their cars. Dunno how safe that is, but people do like to talk.

I'll be grateful for any/all/every bit of advice and/or direction.

thanks.

Consumer Guides have always done great. If you can use a library to get the issue you need instead of subscribing its much better, as all their online stuff now requires a subscription it seems. They have a fairly realistic and rigorous testing and ranking method.

Hank Hill is a very smart man, and I would agree with not buying new (barring a vehicle that just came out and has no used cars that you really wanted). The outback is a nice vehicle. My neighbor has one to commute about an hour to and from Boston and loves it. And its great in the winter. I think asking car owners their impressions is great, but you need more than one for each to get a good idea since there are always exceptions and lemons.

Edmunds.com and Cars.com are good.
