Default Thrift/charity/opportunity shop deal of the day

I had a wonderful bit of luck today. I was wandering past our local Samaritan's shop and they had a two dollar fill a plastic bag with clothes day. I got six t shirts, most of them new, a jumper/sweater and three tops for my 9 year old - for two dollars! I love charity shops!

Has anyone else had a stroke of luck thrift shopping recently?

We just bought a shed for my 15 year old son to convery into hang out for him and his friends and we bought the most comfy easy chair for $15 at the Goodwill. It's in very good shape and was a bargian for the price.

I got a large vest at a Salvation Army store for just a few dollars. So far though, I've used it only for costuming purposes because of the way it looks. I also found lots of plush toys of the kind that are offered as prizes at carnivals. Of course, it's much cheaper to get those at a thrift store than at a carnival. And finally, lots of books, even those that are only a few years old, end up at thrift stores for a dollar or two each.

At the local thrift store they have the book, "The Wealthy Barber". This weekend I'm going to bring a box of books that I am going to give them, and ask if I can get that book for free . Books I'll be returning will be good and in good condition. I've been putting this off for too long .

There's also a deal at Zellers right now where you can get 2 cans of tuna for 1 buck. 50 cents a can is an unreal deal in this area, so I plan to stock up.

I might stop off at shopper's drug mart to see if I can find any good deals to spend 75 bucks. If I can, then they'll give me a 20 dollar gift certificate to future shop. Although spending 75 bucks there is going to be tough.

I like going to Dig 'n' Save, a St. Vincent outlet. They sell clothes for $1/pound, and on Wednesdays it is 50% off. They also sell books for $0.25/pound and other stuff really cheap. I've made some sweet finds there.

You know I stared at that for like 5 mins before my brain thought it might make sense.

I guess I am too extreme. Unless I need something, I don't buy it, no matter how big of a bargain it is. Anybody else like this?

I don't know if you can call this "thrift" shopping, but I bought a couple of textbooks for ~4.49 USD each - $0.39 before taxes and S&H. What a deal! Of course, just yesterday I doled out $105 for my accounting textbook So I guess it all balances out in the end.

I haven't hit the regular thrift stores for a while. Ours don't put the super good items out like they used to. They instead send them to be sold online. Before they started doing this I got a wool jacket that was made in either Sweden or Germany. I paid $3 for it. I looked up the brand when I got home and they were at least $300 new and this looked like it had never been worn.
I have gotten some good deals at the Habitat for Humanity Restore recently. I found antiqued brass bathroom fixtures for $2 and a really cool pendant light for our kitchen for $5. I took the lamp apart and painted it with bronze paint. It looks almost exactly like one they had at Lowes for $200.
