Webster's definition of "cheap"...

1. low in price 2. of little value

A little common sense will reveal what is generally true...

low in price = of little value

just a thought...

There are also instances where a high price doesn't specifically denote better quality.
That is almost more disturbing when expensive goods are being passed off as assumedly better but aren't. You really have to closely inspect expensive items to make sure the price really reflects the quality.

I agree, Lucille. Threads on this type of topic are very difficult to respond to with short replies, because the issue is so complex.

A great part of the disparity in the pricing reflects the advertising costs invested by the "name brands" endeavoring to instill their name as a "household name". At the end of the day, consumers lean toward "recognized names", which are psychologically associated with "quality", particularly with impulse buying.

But, at some point, common sense tells you (or should tell you), that "Soap is Soap". (although "Mr.Clean" might tell you differently, lol)

Marketing is a fascinating "science" full of deception, persuasion, psychology and smoke & mirrors. Ever notice how many boxes are blue, and not green? lol

Walmart is not known for quality, thats for sure. But cheap they are. Walmarts will price match anything thats in their competitors area, including drugstores. So anything that goes on sale at a store in my area I can get at Walmart for that same price.
I also recently found a list of a 130 things at Walmart under $1 and 18 of those items were free. I can regularly run up a $120 grocery bill and knock it down to $40 with coupons at Walmart.
So...quality?...not a chance. Cheap?...oh yeah.
